Thom (McElveen) Rayne

Hey!!  Your friendly webmaster takes a turn as reporter today.  It was great to finally be able to go to a meeting.  It was such fun to see everybody again and talk about everything under the sun!  We even had some recent MHS graduates there to jazz things up a bit...

Attending today: June Felton Case, Randy Russell, Sandra Loring Smith, Jan Griffith Parsons, Steve Weaver & his wife Lisa, Vickie Richardson Minick,  Thom (McElveen) Rayne, & his son Tim McElveen (MHS class of 1999), Marlene Pinkerton Walker & her daughter Andrea Walker (MHS class of 1998), Darlene Pinkerton Riddling & her daughter Laura Riddling (MHS class of 2003), Judy Hoyle Byars, James and Janet Bowling McClain.

Click for larger photoA hot topic was the MHS 30 Reunion shirt that Marlene was wearing!  Check it out and let us know if you want one. Marlene is arranging this for us.

We also got our first look at the name tags (complete with yearbook photos so we'll have a clue who we're talking to!!) and they look great!

Things are coming together for the Big Day.  We're putting down the deposits and counting the forms we've received, trying to anticipate the right number of classmates (and guests) that will be there.  It would help us all a LOT if you'd go ahead and send in your form and check as soon as possible.  We understand that there may be some decisions made at the last minute, but if you are able to plan now, please include us by sending in your form and payment.

Also, please check in on the message board and say HEY to everyone if you haven't already. Don't be bashful.

August 4, 2001

Judy (Hoyle) Byars

Well, our meeting today at Dixie Cafe on Baseline Road in Little Rock, was attended by 6 ladies; Sandra Loring Smith, Patricia Hollinger Vick, June Felton Case, Marlene Pinkerton Walker, Jan Griffith Parsons and Judy Hoyle Byars

Marlene and Sandra are composing the address list and have really researched and found a lot of people. They have really been going after it pretty strong. Marlene has encountered some "trying" times, but all in all she is having success. (If there is anyone out there that knows addresses for some our our alumni, please contact either of these two ladies, or have them fill out the "missing persons" form that Thom has set up on this website.  (Those are being forwarded to Marlene and Sandra.)

We talked about possible locations for the reunion, and prices involved.

A bank account has been set up for future mailing costs, etc.

We have decided to meet again this month, since our Leader, Steve Weaver, didn't make it to this one.  We will be meeting on a Tuesday night this time with the hopes that some others that can't come on Saturday, might be able to attend. (Gary Young we will be expecting to see you there...we were told you would come if we had it on a Tuesday night.)  Anyway, it will be Tuesday, August 28th, 7:00 PM at Dixie Cafe on Baseline.  We urge anyone interested in helping with the plans, to please come join us.  We always have a great time.  (AND we can use the help!!)

We have set the Sept. 15th meeting as the deadline to make a final decision on the reunion "place".

Also, Marlene has been putting ads in the Arkansas Democrat/Gazette telling about our committee meetings.
July 7, 2001

Judy (Hoyle) Byars

Hey y'all, just wanted to let you know the meeting went great today, for those of you who could not attend. We had some information presented to us about a couple of locations to be considered. More places are to be researched before our next meeting Aug.4th and we are going to make a decision at our Sept. 15th meeting.

We decided to open up a bank account and Steve Weaver graciously contributed the "seed" money to get us started. This will help fund the mailings we foresee doing in the next few weeks. We "elected/volunteered" the offices of Treasurer (Judy Byars), Secretary (June Felton), PR person (Janet McClain), and Budget Manager (Randy Russell). Of course, with Steve Weaver leading the group. We hope to get great things accomplished and will try to keep everyone updated.

 June 9, 2001

 Steve Weaver

As many of y'all know, my cyber-jeep has been up on blocks for going on 1 1/2 months now. I'm back with a new modem and a banged up chassis that looks like the computer version of a deer truck. Finally back on-line, I find 129 emails and a link to this site. Absolutely astounding! Bro, you've done a great job!

We did meet again this afternoon (9 June 01). We're going to get quotes on room rates and meeting rooms at the Holiday Inn South (near the Airport), the NLR Hilton (on the river facing the Rock), and the Excelsior/Peabody (the ostentatious convention center of Bill Clinton/Paula Jones infamy). Also, our Finance Czar -- Randy Russell -- is going to cogitate about our monetary needs per person. The MHS Class of '71 is having their 30th this year. We'll designate someone to tag along and see how they have organized and priced their party.

Future meetings are scheduled at the Dixie Cafe on Baseline Road on the following dates (all Saturdays) at twelve noon:

July 7  -  August 4  -  September 15

Everyone is invited to drop in and visit.

April 28, 2001

June Felton Case

Attending today were Delores Rich Sprenger, Marlene Pinkerton Walker, Janet Bowling McClain, Judy Hoyle Byars, Sandra Loring Smith, Glenda Cantrell Beaumont, Eric Miller & his wife Diane, Steve Weaver, Randy Russell, and June Felton Case.

Committees were established to address the reunion theme and decorations, quotes for various sites, locating class members, music and equipment, and our finances.  Thom Rayne emailed that he would provide a website. [*voila!*]  And Steve Weaver said he could burn some CDs of the music that we listened to.

March 31, 2001

June Felton Case

Attending today were Delores Rich Sprenger, Glenda Cantrell Beaumont, Darlene Pinkerton Riddling, Marlene Pinkerton Walker, Jan Griffith Parsons, Janet Bowling McClain & her husband James, Steve Weaver & his wife Lisa, Dan Onstott, Donald Poe, Judy Hoyle Byars, June Felton Case, and special guests: Mr. Johnny Farmer (our history teacher) & his wife.

After the greetings, we talked about the storm after the last meeting and made sure all were OK.  With this aside, we began our discussion of getting organized.  Everyone in attendance decided our first step was to have a chair person.  We elected Steve Weaver as chairman and Glenda Cantrell Beaumont as co-chair.

We tentatively scheduled our 30 year reunion for Saturday, June 8, 2002.

Our assignment for the next meeting was to try to get at least two more people to help with ideas for locations that could hold at least 150 people.

February 24, 2001

June Felton Case

Attending today's very first reunion meeting were Darlene Pinkerton Riddling, Marlene Pinkerton Walker, Vickie Fiser Hall, Pat Forrest Waits, Jan Griffith Parsons, Janet Bowling McClain, Judy Hoyle Byars, Randy Russell, Steve Weaver, June Felton Case, and special guest Ms. Cathy Houser (our Office/School Secretary).

We had our hellos and hugs.  We passed pictures around of spouses, children, and grandchildren.  We talked a little about what we were doing now.  We ordered lunch.  After we ate, we began talking about what we needed to do in order to get the ball rolling to plan our 30 year reunion.  We set the next date for meeting again on March 31, 2001, same time, same place.

We ran into a tornado heading home.
